Fund raising
As an executive director I have been personally responsible and successful in the recruitment, cultivation, solicitation and retention of major donors and foundations. As a consultant I took a six-month contract as Interim Development Director for a large non-profit organization where I set development systems in place to ready the Board and organization for a major capital campaign. Upgraded and improved the database management and donor records. Recruited and hired a highly qualified permanent development director, increased major donor giving by 25% over previous year, developed a case statement for the capital campaign project, identified potential foundation funders and initiated letters of inquiry and full funding applications.
Marketing and Communications
Instituted a first-ever email marketing program that integrates easy and timely communication with donors and constituents for events, appeals and other information that needs to be distributed widely and economically.
Human Resources
Worked with managers and board members to complete a six months project to revise all sections of a dated employee handbook to include required regulatory sections, current payroll and benefits practices, drug and alcohol policies, harassment and disciplinary procedures. Provided training for staff and developed new personnel file system including needed forms and procedures.
Strategic Planning
Capacity and service delivery assessment, competitor analysis, community perception and brand, internal and external input, board workshops, written final plan, and evaluation/progress measurement tools.
Fiscal management and budgeting
Financial statement review and reporting, annual budget development, annual audit or review oversight, request for proposal and selection process for new audit service vendor.
Social media
Website design and function, integration of marketing, PR and fundraising through all channels including website, Facebook, Twitter for desktop and mobile applications.
